Protecting the land that supports us

Sustainability at Bird Brothers

As a considerate British food producer, we take a range of steps to lessen our environmental impact.

Our eggs are green
(at heart)

Since 2020 we’ve invested over £1 million in sustainability measures across our production and packaging sites. Our facilities’ energy consumption has reduced by 66%, thanks to solar panels on our sheds, high-performance insulation, and internal/external LED lighting systems that use PIR motion detection.

We continue to move to lower emission vehicles and use advanced route-planning software to reduce both mileage and carbon emissions. When it comes to packaging, we use wood pulp or RPET recycled plastic wherever possible, secured with recyclable paper-based tape seals.

Giving our hens a great outdoors

To support biodiversity, our free-range laying sites are home to beehives, bug hotels, native tree species and wildflower meadows. As the ranges mature, we continue to develop these sites, constantly seeking fresh, smart ways to run facilities that step lightly on the planet.
