Why eggs?
So many good things to say about the simple egg.
Egg production has been a successful industry in which to be a part of for many years. Despite recent inflation pressure due to geopolitical events, eggs remain the cheapest source of natural protein available for consumers, they are highly versatile and can be eaten on their own or as part of a recipe.
Egg production here in the UK has seen recent
growth with eggs per capita moving from 199 to 209
eggs per year*, the last year alone has seen a growth
of about 5%. This equates to a staggering consumption of
26,000 eggs per minute.
However, other countries eat more, with the EU average sitting at 237 and Spain leading the way at 273 – a target that the UK egg industry is keen to achieve in the coming years.
